1.Who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to Squeaker Detailing, a mobile auto detailing and property washing business operating in Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Toronto, and surrounding areas in Ontario, Canada. When this policy says "we," "us," or "our," we mean Squeaker Detailing.
We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Ontario's privacy practices for small businesses.
2.What we collect
We only collect the information we need to book and complete your service. That includes:
- Name so we know who we're meeting
- Phone number for booking confirmations, on-the-way texts, and questions
- Email address for booking confirmations and receipts
- Service address so we know where to go
- Vehicle information like make, model, and condition for accurate pricing
- Booking notes like access instructions or special requests
- Payment information processed securely by our payment provider (we never see or store full card numbers)
That's it. We don't ask for, collect, or want anything we don't need.
3.How we use it
Your information is used only for:
- Booking and scheduling your appointments
- Communicating with you about your booking, including confirmations, reminders, and on-the-way notifications
- Completing the service and following up on our 24-hour quality promise
- Bookkeeping like receipts, invoices, and tax records as required by law
- Improving our service like noting that a vehicle had heavy pet hair so we can quote accurately next time
We will not use your information for marketing emails, text blasts, or unsolicited promotions unless you have specifically opted in.
5.Third-party services we use
To run a small business, we rely on a few trusted services. The main ones are:
- Square for payment processing and online booking. Card details go directly to Square, not to us.
- ProtonMail for our business email, which uses end-to-end encryption.
- Standard SMS and phone carriers for text and call communications.
Each of these has their own privacy policy. We choose providers that take privacy seriously.
6.How long we keep your information
We keep your booking and contact information only as long as needed to provide our service and meet legal requirements:
- Active client records are kept for as long as you remain a client.
- Inactive client records may be kept for up to 3 years to support repeat bookings and warranty-style follow-ups.
- Financial records like invoices and receipts are kept for 6 years as required by Canada Revenue Agency rules.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time, except where we're legally required to keep it.
7.Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information:
- Booking and payment data is handled by encrypted, PCI-compliant providers (Square)
- Email is handled through ProtonMail with end-to-end encryption
- Devices used to manage bookings are password-protected
- Paper records, when used, are stored securely and destroyed when no longer needed
No system is 100% secure, but we treat your information with the same care we'd want for our own.
8.Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we have about you
- Correct any inaccuracies
- Withdraw consent for us to use your information, subject to legal and contractual restrictions
- Request deletion of your information when it's no longer required for service or legal reasons
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your rights have been violated
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 12. We'll respond within 30 days.
9.Cookies & website tracking
Our website uses minimal browser storage to remember your theme preference (light or dark mode) so the site looks the way you like on your next visit. That preference stays on your device and is not sent back to us.
We do not run third-party advertising trackers, social-media pixels, or behavioural-profiling cookies. If we ever add basic analytics in the future to understand how the site is used, we'll update this policy and choose privacy-respecting tools.
10.Children
Our services are intended for adults who own or are authorized to manage vehicles or property. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, please contact us and we'll delete it.
11.Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our business or legal obligations change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version. If we make significant changes, we'll do our best to flag them clearly.
